A nice beach some fifteen years ago mostly visited by Ticos and locals, Playa Herradura was an undiscovered paradise. A volcanic black sand beach with clear aquamarine green waters and a beautiful palm tree lined at the shoreline; Playa Herradura is today a tourist magnet on the central Pacific coast. Ideal for those who want to get away from the busy town of Jaco, this beach has grown into becoming a very popular vacation destination.
To make it to Playa Herradura take a left on the herradura intersection, north of Jaco and drive like 2.5 km down the road to the beach. Home to the Hotel Marriott Los Suenos, a five star luxury hotel with plenty of features and amenities as well as a marina, condominium complex and golf course, this beach is fast becoming one of the best tourism developments in Costa Rica. although, with its tranquil seas, Playa Herradura still brings in a lot of people who want a quiet retreat.
With its many touristy projects Playa Herradura Los Suenos still does not attract as many tourists as Jaco does, making it the best place to get away. From Playa Herradura you can also head up north to the beautiful Punta Leona, or down south to the best surf spot in Costa Rica Playa Hermosa.
